Rawsi Williams

Attorney Rawsi Williams, Esq., R.N., is a Florida-based civil rights attorney, registered nurse, and United States Army veteran. She is one of the few professionals licensed in both law and nursing, dedicating her career to defending civil and constitutional rights. Her practice includes federal, state, and administrative cases involving civil rights, education, employment, healthcare, and government accountability. She became nationally recognized after securing a $2 million unanimous jury verdict in a federal excessive force case, the highest verdict in a pure police brutality matter within that court system. She is also one of only four attorneys in four decades to successfully defeat the Florida High School Athletic Association on behalf of a student-athlete. Rawsi is one of five children, with four daughters and one son in the family. Her decision to study law was shaped by her brother’s incarceration, which inspired her to fight for those silenced or mistreated by unjust systems. Later, he became a victim of police brutality in Texas when officers repeatedly tased him inside an ambulance after a seizure. A Judge determined that the officers lacked probable cause for the arrest after he was dragged from the ambulance, and she secured him legal representation in Texas, leading to a federal lawsuit against those officers.

Before entering the legal field, she served in the United States Army and began her professional career in nursing. She studied at Tuskegee University, where she became the first female Ranger in the school’s Army ROTC program. She later earned her Juris Doctor degree from Florida A&M University College of Law and also completed military training in medical records. Alongside her practice, she has earned multiple certifications and is often invited to speak at national events as a keynote speaker and lecturer. Rawsi is licensed in all Florida state courts and several federal jurisdictions, with additional admissions pro hac vice in Texas and Georgia. Her work includes civil rights and constitutional litigation, employment disputes, and administrative defense. Drawing on her nursing background, she also represents healthcare professionals in matters related to licensure and professional practice.

Her commitment to service is reflected in more than a decade of volunteer work with the Miami-Dade County Public Defender’s Office, where she has maintained an undefeated record representing indigent clients pro bono. Through her dedication, skill, and service, Attorney Rawsi Williams remains a steadfast advocate for justice and equality.
